Issue

• Sam Wilson , the executive director of the sponsorship agency, received complaints from the headquarters and also, he needed to double his office size in the coming year
• Concerned about with who should run the department and how the work should be structured

Analysis & Problems

1. The department has a mechanistic structure
-Tasks are broken down into specialized separate parts & task for rigidly defined
-Strict hierarchy of authority and control and there are many rules
-Vertical Communication
2. No one leading and supervising the Guatemala office
-Barigga (head of department) prefers to work on community services
-Elena (supervisor) exercises very little authority
3. Uneven distribution of work in the office

Other consideration: Resource Dependence

Recommendations

1. Go organic, empowerment
2. Divide the department

3. All translations to be handled by Donor Services Department
4. Partnership or joint venture, Advertising and public relations

Conclusion

• By changing our department structure from a mechanistic structure to an organic one, employees will work in teams and have a fair distribution of work. Most importantly, they will be empowered and be able to make full use of their skills in contributing to the company.
• This will lead to an increase in efficiency, allowing the sponsorship agency to expand.
